- description:
This project at Oaktree School (a Special Educational Needs [SEN] school) in Southgate was completed in 2008 within a nine month programme, with the school having remained operational throughout the contract.
The scheme allows Oaktree now to take secondary age pupils (with autistic spectrum disorder [ASD] and a wide range of other needs) and comprises the refurbishment of three existing classrooms and offices to provide new Therapy, Respite and Medical rooms, plus a new extension to provide three new classrooms (for secondary level).
It features a number of ‘Green’ features including a green (sedum) roof, naturally ventilated and naturally lit teaching spaces, whilst still achieving compliance with the requirements of Building Bulletin 93 (Acoustic Design of Schools). It also includes various modern methods of construction including a glulam timber structure.
