AD Architects recently handed over the second enabling works project for the installation of the first Accuray Radixact® TomoTherapy machines in the UK. The £1.9m systems will treat patients at Addenbrooke’s Hospital.
The Radixact® machines were installed in existing linear accelerator bunkers in the hospital’s radiotherapy department. The facility was formally opened by Prime Minister Theresa May.
AD Develop acted as the developer on this turnkey project, which was delivered on schedule and within budget.
Addenbrooke’s Hospital, part of Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, has begun treating patients using a “Radixact radio therapy delivery system” to help those suffering from a wide variety of cancers including prostate, breast, neck and head.
