A new facility at Barn Elms Playing Fields in south west London was officially opened by the Mayor of Richmond upon Thames on Saturday.
AD Architects designed the new pavilion which has six team changing rooms and a community/function room and is the focus of the transformation of the 46 acre site into a multi-sports hub.
As well as the pavilion, the project included new LTA funded tennis courts, a Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA), football and rugby pitches and artificial cricket pitches.
The £2.3m scheme was funded by Richmond Council in conjunction with a number of agencies including the Barn Elms Sports Trust (BEST), the Football Foundation, the London Marathon Charitable Trust, the Mayor of London and the Veolia Environmental Trust. In the longer term, the site will be protected for local sport and recreational use in partnership with Fields in Trust.
